Paper Bag Making

                             On worlds environment day, students are asked to make paper bags. Sanjana won 3rd place in the competition. Here is the process that she followed to make a paper bag.

Materials required to make a paper bag are as follows.

• A thick paper/ Chart
• A pair of scissors
• Fevicol or Glue
• Decorative material (of your choice)

1.  Fold the paper as shown below. This is for handles to be strong.

 2.  Now fold from both the sides to the middle as shown.                                                                                                                                  

 3. Stick in the middle with Glue.

4. Now, fold the of the bottom of the paper as shown below.

 5. Apply Glue on the pencil lines shown below.

 6. Fold it downwards.

7. Once you stick the bottom of the bag, fold the paper vertically as shown below.

 8. Turn towards the other side and turn the folding backwards.

 9. Now open the folding. Your bag should looks like this.

 10. For handles, you can use any old lace/ribbons or any thing of our choice.

 11. Now its time to decorate the bag. You can use color papers,stickers ribbons or any thing to make your bag look pretty. Here we used some color papers and stickers to make it look pretty.

Quelling Art

                                

Here is a quelling art made by Sanjana during summer holidays. Here is a picture of the final product. Lets see how to create this piece.

    Materials required to make this are

•   Quelling paper 
•   Quelling needle
•   Old Compact Disk/CD.
•   Glue/ gum to stick

          

                                      

Stick them to a Compact disk in any certain design you want and once it is dry it can be hanged anywhere in the house. 

                     

                                              

Chickpeas snack

1. Soak chickpeas overnight or for 6 hours or use canned chick peas
2. Pressure cook the chick peas for 2 whistles  or drain water from the can of chick peas
3. Drain water.
4. Add oil and urad dal, mustard, red chilles, curry leaves.
5. Grind coconut and green chillies together.
6. Throw in chickpeas and coconut powder and fry it for couple of minutes and the snack is ready.

DIY a coffee mug using Sharpie Marker

When you are looking to personalize something for any special occasion decorating the coffee mug is a great idea. Do-It-Yourself these super cute mugs. I made them for Valentines day with the quotes that we believe  in.

Supplies: A Coffee Mug (white/black)/ Sharpie oil based Paint pens 

Where: I bought 4 coffee mugs at Bed Bath and Beyond and Sharpie pens at Michaels.

Prepare: Run the mug under water and dry it with a towel or air dry it. Make sure your personalize message is big enough to fit the mug. Edit the message and finalize it.

Process: Take a sharpie paint pen and write the message on the mug and let it dry for 24 hours. Bake the mug for 30 to 45 minutes (Remember to leave the mug in the oven before you turn on the heat and after you turn off the heat.)  Once the mugs cool down completely you can hand wash them for the first time and then throw it in the microwave from the next time.

Baby Shower Ideas

Organizing a baby shower for a BFF's is fun though it is time consuming and tiring. So, I thought I will put down some of the details to make it much easier for the ones who are about to plan one.

Location:
Selecting a location was fairly easy for us we initially thought we will celebrate it in the house however, my bff's husband decided we do somewhere out so, we looked at some of them  and finaliZed one. I went to that location confirmed about chairs decoration and when the hall will be available.

Cake:

To finalize a specialty cake was of a little concern as it took a while for me.  We finalized on the Girafee Cake but, here are some more that I loved.

Return Gifts:
I found these pretty baby figures on a website and they are absolutely lovely.  These are soaps (which no one wants to use) with baby powder smell.

Decoration:
Decoration was simple, Animal theme from Party City.  Also, as it was for a boy, I decided I will go with Blue, Green and yellow balloons so that it wont be too cliche.  We wanted Animal Theme for it. So, we went to party City and found all the animal related and baby shower related stuff.  Bought some regular balloons on Amazon. Here is the picture

Invites:  
You can find a lot of invites online and I Chose a monkey baby invite. Was cute and the mom Loved it.

Games:
Here are some of the games we played. It went on for around 2 hours and it was a baby shower for father and Mother. So, it involved playing games both men and women. Hope some of them help.

(The couple wanted to name baby with R so there were suggestions from the guest to couple and whoever name was liked by mom and dad won the gift. I read out the names written by the guests  while they were writing it.)
